Congress finally passed some credit card legislation. Some people are rejoicing while some credit card company executives are nervous because they may see some of their profitable strategies becoming illegal now. The intent is great, but if you are to eliminate your credit card debt, don't expect your Congressman or Congresswoman to come to your home, pat you on the shoulder and console you about credit card debt.
You have to take action yourself!
One of the best ways to eradicate your credit card debt is to simply not use credit cards any more. There may be an emergency when you need to have one (like a flat tire on a holiday weekend), but living within your means is a tough, but achievable goal. I now have gone 15 months without using a credit card. Mind you, it wasn't at first because I didn't want to, it was because I could no longer keep up the monthly minimums and the late fees and high interest rates that followed buried me even further.
My lifestyle had to change. I was not going out and buying expensive flat screen television, home theater systems and the like: it was with small purchases that added up to big dollars. If you are to free up any money it takes discipline and determination. Make a budget that you can live with. Find things that you can do for less money (or better yet, free) look for savings everywhere that you can and use that money to first free yourself from credit card debt.
I have just finished writing an eBook called "Never Surrender" about how to eliminate your credit card debt that will be available soon. Check here for more details. For ideas on how to make money, check out my website.
